EMPOWERED CRICKET

Unleashing Confidence Through Sport

Donate

At Empowered Cricket, we help girls and young women defend themselves from sexual abuse by training them to #protecttheboundary in sport & life.

At Empowered Cricket, we help girls and young women learn to use their unique voice to #protecttheboundary to prevent abuse.

Cricket is a sport that naturally teaches players to protect the boundary; we use it to teach girls and young women to protect their personal boundaries.

Many girls and young women are exposed to inappropriate behaviour.

They brush it off.

Many girls and young women are abused and assaulted.

They remain silent.

Our program has been proven to teach girls and young women that they do not need “empowerment,” that power already lies within.

The Empowered Cricket program teaches girls and young women ages 10 to 16 personal boundaries, and use their unique voice, and to tap into the power they already possess to confidently make healthy decisions.

Each age-appropriate 5-week program created by educators, psychologists, and cricket professionals teaches both cricket and essential life skills at the same time using creative activities, brainstorming, and problem-solving.

Our Empowered Girls Say...

I lack self-confidence and self-esteem. I don’t like talking to people with authority. I used what I learned in Empowered Cricket to approach someone in authority to ask for something. I was terrified, to say the least, but I did it! And I got what I needed, too.

RS

Working with the girls helped remind me that I need to be an example of what we are teaching. When a co-worker said something very inappropriate, I was just going to ignore it, but I remembered teaching the girls to use their voice to advocate for themselves. I went to HR to apprise them of the situation. In the past, I never would have done that.

MR

The girls helped me be able to stand up for me. When a work email came through explaining a new procedure, I decided to reply to voice my concern. Before when changes happened, I just accepted them. Now we are discussing other possible solutions that won’t be detrimental to my office.
